Zyprexa the #5 drug of 2004

May 25, 2005

PharmaLive.com’s list of 2004’s best-selling medicines (worldwide) included Zyprexa, which is the subject of a current class action suit.

Here’s the list, which I summarized from the article:

1. Lipitor ($10.86 billion - Pfizer) - #1 for the last 3 years - first Rx drug to top $10 billion in a year
2. Zocor ($5.2 billion - Merck)
3. Advair ($4.5 billion - GlaxoSmithKline)
4. Norvasc ($4.46 billion - Pfizer)
5. Zyprexa ($4.42 billion - Eli Lilly and Co.)
6. Nexium ($3.89 billion - AstraZeneca)
7. Procrit ($3.59 billion - Johnson & Johnson)
8. Zoloft ($3.36 billion - Pfizer)
9. Effexor ($3.35 billion - Wyeth) - newcomer to top 10 list
10. Plavix ($3.33 billion - Myers Squibb Co.) - newcomer to top 10 list

Interesting how the suit, which was filed just over a year ago (last April, I think) hasn’t really had an impact on overall sales.

My name is Jeff Nunez age 35 DOB 11-24-69

2002 I was hospitlized for pancreatits approx 7 days

since then I was hospilized in 2003 2xs for pancreatits attack a doctor prrescirbed the medication to me after my first hospital stay

2004 I was rehosipilzed in 1-5- 04 and 4-2004 I then seekd a new doctor since the past doctor and gastronogist did not seem to be any assitance

Then I seen another Dr he up my dosage of lipitor to 40 mg I then was hospiilzed again twotimes in 2005 this time in june of 2005 -8-2005 I showed sever signs of MS via ct and mri now the mri and ct scans are negative My medical history now shows a diagnosis of MS .I did mentioned and ask the doctors about lipitor they declined to comment . Since then I was back in er this year for my veins hardning , The xray showed nothing . I was most disgusted asked if Shoot drugs up .I do not drink do drugs I take what is prescribed by doctors at this time Im very weary of taking any medication at all . The pain I had sufferd was way to much for me to live and felt Like i wanted to give up . The seveere migraines that I endured were out of controll and Doctor an Hospitals could not do anything for me . I highly feel that the Lipitor was the cause of this

    Regards
