General Motors Windshield Lawsuit
April 6, 2006
A Tampa law firm has filed a class action lawsuit against General Motors alleging that the auto maker put defective windshields in more than 5.8 million vehicles across the country.
The complaint alleges that windshield cracks have caused 11 accidents and that GM showed no regard for customer safety by not recalling more than 7 millions cars, trucks and SUVs.
Some of the consumers suing claim that the wipers failed and after having them repaired or replaced GM refused to compensate them. They also say that GM was fined before for failing to repair defective wipers 3-4 years in some older model vehicles.
They are seeking restitution and also for GM to have to recall the defective vehicles.
Merck Loses Another Vioxx Appeal
April 5, 2006
An appeals court has ruled that a class action lawsuit can go forward against Merck & Co. and they are of course going to “appeal” this ruling. The major drug company has been under fire for allegedly distributing Vioxx knowing that it wasn’t safe and could cause significant health problems.
This lawsuit isn’t part of the over 10,000 complaints filed but a seperate one that includes hospitals, insurers and others to sue for the tainted pain reliever. The Insurance Companies have said that they would never have paid Merck if they knew that the pain reliever was so dangerous.
